13 Why a bibliography?

In scholarly work a bibliography indicates the context in which the research grew.  Our bibliography does exactly this.  The reader can understand very quickly how our research fits within a particular matrix of thought.

Beyond giving a sense of context, we want to direct our colleagues toward information that might prove to be useful to them. In that sense the bibliography suggests possibilities for further reading. In this sense the bibliography is not closed.  As a reader you might find that a book that is personally important to you has not listed, and will suggest its inclusion, your contribution making this list more broadly useful. Not all of our books are strictly about stone carving. There are references here to several texts that we found either inspirational or important to our greater endeavor, or both.
